“Beating heart of Jette”
Following the completion of Jette’s Lighting Master Plan in 2012, a more in-depth study was commissioned for Cardinal Mercier Square, which was recently redeveloped. The aim was to highlight three landmark buildings constructed in the second half of the 19th century, as part of the creation of the railway line under Leopold II, and characterized by their distinctive red brick.
The lighting design seeks to enhance and emphasize the architectural features of these buildings within a coherent overall composition.
Two buildings are illuminated and positioned to frame the square:
- The former (and listed) town hall;
- Saint Peter’s Church.
