“The inner lights”
It is on this square, sheltered from the view, that the Town hall of the neighbourhood of Borgherout, also called the «Districthuis», is located. The lighting project for both the building and the square follows major restoration work carried out on the entire site.
The lighting of the Districthuis consists of two layers: an overall illumination of the building’s volume, and accent lighting that highlights the architectural details characteristic of the Flemish Neo-Renaissance style.
The square’s public lighting is adapted to its various functions and is designed to be pedestrian-friendly.
The forecourt of the Districthuis features more theatrical lighting, evocative of stained-glass windows illuminated from within — using white tones during the week, and coloured tones on weekends and during events.
