This lighting design is part of a project implementation mission derived from the Ghent Light Plan (2009 – R. Jéol), carried out in coordination with the distribution network manager Eandis.
The lighting concept for this major building in the center of Ghent is based on two main objectives: restoring the tower’s nighttime visibility—it rises nearly 90 meters and is a true emblem of the city—and respecting the constraints imposed by its heritage status.
A soft and uniform background lighting is complemented by subtle light accents that highlight the building’s silhouette and architectural details, all rendered in white light. This approach creates a dialogue between the monument and the surrounding landscape, both on the scale of the entire city and at the pedestrian level nearby.
