Lille is a city of diversity, with great human and heritage resources, as well as a city of culture and nature that is firmly anchored in the future through “sustainable development”.
What can light do to highlight all that? We can create links between the neighbourhoods and their populations, by treating them equally and as entities in their own right (historically, they are). Entities linked by a thread. The thread of culture and nature.
Subtle lighting focussing mainly on the landmarks that are formed by cultural venues, both old and modern (theatres, cultural centres, Maison folies), according to a shared language, whatever the neighbourhood or its size.
Lighting of access points also: metro exits or tram stops.
How are they connected? Via the routes followed through scenograpic lighting of cycle tracks, using new technologies such as, ion particular, LED lighting.
The first stage of the realisation of this lighting master plan is the organisation of exploratory walks in 2015.
