Illumination of several features in rue Docteur César-Roux, Lausanne (Switzerland)
Client : Services Industriels de Lausanne (S.I.L.)
Years : 2014-2015 (in progress)
Design team : Radiance 35, ScPRL
Scope of appointment : Full appointment
The project comprises the adaptation of the street lighting as well as the illumination of 3 landmarks along the length of rue Docteur César-Roux, as part of the ”implementation” of the Lausanne Lighting Plan in 2012 (produced by Radiance 35).
Where the street lighting is concerned, the artery forming part of the Ceinture Pichard (by-pass dating from 1830), will be lit by catenary cable-hung neutral white (+/- 4000K) lights of a specific model. The “singular” spaces bordering this artery will be handled differently.
The 3 items to be illuminated are:
- The Tunnel de la Barre: lighting of the inside of the vehicle and pedestrian tunnels as well as the retaining walls and external pillars.
- The Ecole de Couture: “conventional” lighting of the windows on 3 façades and coloured lighting on the 4th to create a surprise.
- The Swiss Bibliomedia: lighting of architectural features and projections indicating the 3 successive “lives” of the building (customs house, school then library).
