Lighting scheme for Saint-Aubin church, Bellevaux (Province of Luxembourg)
Client : Church Council
Years : 2010-2015 (in progress)
Design team : Radiance 35 ScPRL (for Jean-Louis Joris, architect)
Scope of appointment : Full appointment (design and implementation)
The church of St-Aubin, at Bellevaux in the Belgian Ardennes, is very visible by virtue of its hillside location. It underwent a number of renovations during the 17the and 19th Centuries, but its current form dates from the 15th Century. It is remarkable for its square tower and its walls of pink and ochre stones.
For the outside of the church, we propose a “background” light made up shades of white, against which the stained glass windows of the choir will be highlighted from within by an orange yellow light.
On the inside of the church, warm up-lighting will light the naves, while a colder down light will be directed towards the alter.
